Insomnia is my super-sad true habit of when I write most effectively. Writing in the dark was a specialty when I was a kid. I’d take a familiar notebook and visual lines, using my left index finger as a guide to where the next line would start. By the time I was in junior high school, I had perfected this routine and I still use it from time to time.
